Teaching & Learning Strategies

The challenge of examining the influence of significant centenary events on the present is not just a matter for history teachers. The revised Northern Ireland Curriculum with its overall emphasis on values and skills offers clear opportunities for these themes to be explored across a range of subjects and in whole school events.
  • At whole school level, through assemblies and work with other schools as part of the CRED programme.
  • At Primary level through:exploring Personal Development and Mutual Understanding; The World Around Us; and Drama
  • At Post-primary level through History, Local and Global Citizenship Religious Education; glish Literature and Drama
Work in these areas can also be enhanced further through the opportunities offered by the Department of Education’s Community Relations Equality and Diversity (CRED) Programme http://www.credni.org/contents/what-is-cred/scrp-guidelines-2011-2012/
